We are frequently asked if there is an upper age limit for adopting a child.  Age is only one consideration along with factors such as general health, fitness and emotional well being.  It is thought that adoptive parents should be no older than their early 60’s by the time a child is eighteen years old.

Children come from a wide range of backgrounds and we positively encourage applications from people of either any or no religion.  We are also flexible about people’s ages, whether married or single, with or without children.  At the present time we are seeking adoptive parents who would either consider adopting family groups of two children in the 3 to 5 years age range or for babies who have Down’s Syndrome.  We are also looking for adoptive parents for children five years and older.

THIS MONTH WE ARE SEEKING FAMILIES FOR:

Kirsty (6) and Josh (4) are sister and brother who would like to stay together in the same family.  They have been with foster carers for 14 months and have now settled well despite a very upsetting early life.

Kirsty is a lively outgoing girl who enjoys music, dancing and responds well to attention.  She is a little behind at school but she is starting to catch up.  Protective towards Josh.

Josh can be a challenge at times, a boy who likes to be outside and involved in the action.  An affectionate child who thrives on adult attention, enjoys animals and wildlife.

Who Could Be Parents To These Lively Children?

Kirsty and Josh are of white parentage and would benefit from being with two parents where they are either the only children or the youngest by at least three years.  Couples up to 47 years old would be considered for these children.

Luke is 6 months old, he has Down’s Syndrome and will require heart surgery when he gets older.  He is a delightful little boy, cheerful and happy.  His mother is unable to care for him but would like to hear about him from time to time.

Who Could Be A Parent To Luke?

Couples or a single person up to 43 years old.

Kyle (7) has an appealing personality, he loves music, watching videos and he has just learnt to swim.  Kyle likes to be kept occupied and he can be trying at times.  He has a younger brother and sister who have been adopted but he still has contact with them.  He has been freed for adoption.

Who Could Be A Parent to Kyle?

Either a couple or a single person with a lot of energy up to 48 years old.

Melissa is 8 months old, her birth mother is white English and her birth father is Muslim Pakistani.  A delightful little girl who is reaching all her milestones.

Who Could Parent Melissa?

We are seeking a couple with a similar background to Melissa’s.
